Heidi Cruz Will Visit Mobile

On Thursday, Nov 5, 2015 the wife of U.S. Senator from Texas and Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, Heidi Cruz, will be in Mobile for a free meet and greet event at Half Shell Oyster House at 12:00 PM.

heidi-cruzSenator Cruz gained applause and national attention by attacking the embarrassingly partisan CNBC debate moderators on Wednesday night.  Sen. Cruz asked, “The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media.  This is not a cage match and you look at the questions, ‘Donald Trump are you a comic book villain?’, ‘Ben Carson can you do math?’, ‘John Kasich will you insult two people over here?’, ‘Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign?’, ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?’ How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?”

Reportedly the strong debate performance has led to an uptick in Cruz donations.

Sen. Ted Cruz is married to Heidi Nelson (age 42) of San Luis Obispo, California, who manages the Wealth Management Unit in Houston for Goldman Sachs.  Heidi has taken a hiatus from her investment banking career to help Ted on his presidential campaign.  The couple met when both were working on the presidential campaign of then Texas Gov. George W. Bush (R).  They have two children.

Sen. Cruz said at an event in Pelham in August, “My dad, Raphael Cruz, was born in Cuba and grew up in Cuba.  At 14 he joined the revolution and fought for four years against Batista.  When my dad was 17 they threw him in prison.  They tortured my dad.  He came to America at 18.  Today my father is a pastor traveling the country preaching the Gospel.  My whole life my Dad has been my hero.  What is really surprising about my dad’s story is that it is so commonplace.  “My dad used to tell me when I faced oppression in Cuba I had a place to go to.  If we lose our freedom here where do we go?”

Ted Cruz has: been a former solicitor general for the state of Texas where he argued 9 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court; a Law Clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist; a policy advisor to Texas Governor George W. Bush (R); argued cases and helped organize the Bush legal team in the disputed 2000 presidential election; worked as Associate Deputy U.S. Attorney General; as policy Director for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission; and in private practice has represented high profile clients including the NRA and Rep. John Boehner (R from Ohio).  He was born Rafael Edward Cruz in Calgary, Alberta.  Cruz is a Southern Baptist.  He did his undergraduate work at Princeton and went to the Harvard Law School where he was the primary editor of the ‘Harvard Law Review’, executive editor of the ‘Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy’, and a founding editor of the ‘Harvard Latino Law Review.
