Hubbard to Meet with House Republican Caucus on Monday

MONTGOMERY—Two Republican House members have confirmed that Speaker Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) has called a caucus meeting for Monday at the Prattville Marriott.

Someone close to Hubbard has revealed that he will speak to the caucus regarding his criminal case, hoping to convince members to continue to rally to his side. Hubbard plans to tell the gathered House members that his trial will be postponed until after Session, and that, ultimately, his case will be dismissed by trial Judge Jacob Walker III.

Hubbard’s lead attorney, J. Mark with, and the firm, White, Arnold and Dowd, have withdrawn from the case, leaving the Hubbard’s team in chaos. Hubbard, it is reported, is having trouble raising money, but plans to use the legislative session as a means to generate the much needed funds.

According to House members, Hubbard is making them “Kiss the ring” if they want to pre-file a bill. All those who do not, will have to wait until the opening day of the 2016 Session.

One Republican House member speaking on background for fear of reprisal said, “Hubbard is delusional,” but he doubts there are enough votes to remove him as Speaker.

Rumors of a federal investigation have heated up once again following a Grand Jury hearing in Montgomery.
