Hubbard Pre-Trial Rescheduled

By Susan Britt
Alabama Political Reporter

MONTGOMERY—On Thursday, Judge Jacob Walker, III, granted a motion for the continuance of Speaker Mike Hubbard’s pre-trial conference date, to April 20 at 9:00 am.

On Wednesday, Hubbard’s defense asked for a continuance of the April 15 pre-trial date, set in an order by Walker earlier this week.

Hubbard asked for a continuance to the week following the date set by Walker claiming, that Bill Baxley and David McKnight have a conflicting trial schedule for the week of April 11. They asked that the court date be rescheduled to either April 20, 21 or 22.

According to the motion, Baxley and McKnight are scheduled to appear in Circuit Court of Marshall County before the Honorable Timothy Riley in the Schlarb v Lee case, noting that it is twelve years old.

Hubbard has been indicted on 23 felony counts of corruption. The hearing is scheduled for as early as May 9.
