Alabama GOP Delegates Having a Good Time As Republican Convention Officially Nominates Trump

On Tuesday, Donald J. Trump won the Republican nomination by a landslide on the first ballot. Alabama Republican Primary voters voted overwhelming for the New York City billionaire businessman and reality TV star and Alabama’s delegation to the convention kept faith with its voters and gave most of the state’s delegates to Mr. Trump.

Alabama’s convention delegation chairman, US Senator Jeff Sessions (R) announced, “The great state of Alabama; the home of national champion football teams Alabama and Auburn; the home of the Saturn V rocket that took us to the moon; the place where we had two of the greatest Trump rallies in the nation’s history (Mobile and Huntsville) is proud to cast its votes for the next President of the United States Donald J Trump.”

Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio also received a handful of delegates from Alabama.

The delegates report that for the most part they are having a good time.

On Friday, State Representative Ed Henry and Laura Payne represented Alabama on the Republican Rules Committee and helped thwart a last ditch effort by Dump Trump forces to free the delegates from their vows.

On Monday Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan said, “Our first official event as the ALGOP delegation was a devotional and prayer time. Our nation needs to bow our knees to the Lord. We should bless Him and thank Him so He may bless America. It’s time to take our nation back.”

Also on Monday a faction of mostly Ted Cruz delegates tried to force a roll call vote on whether to adopt the rules. That motion failed and the rules were approved by voice vote.

Trump Montgomery area Chair former State Representative Perry Hooper Jr. dismissed the disgruntled delegates as a small minority.

State Representative Tim Wadsworth (R-Arley) said, “The Republican Convention as portrayed on National television is NOT the convention that I am attending. Media manipulation is a method used by organizations to shade the truth to favor their agenda. Chaos and Civil War were headlines. They did not exist. Motions were made and voted on. The convention has been well organized. Security has been extraordinary. There are protestors ranging from anti-socialism, animal rights, anti US by Syrian, etc but it’s been peaceful. Mountains are attempted to be made out of molehills. Politics is Politics. People love it or hate it but it’s still a fascinating process in the US. Spoke with South Korean journalists. They indicated they don’t have primaries or delegates.”

State Representative Mack Butler (R-Rainbow City) said, “Huge shout out to all the law enforcement here in Cleveland! The security provided here is incredible. I read where 94 different agencies plus the national guard are working this event. There is such a huge presence that I saw where there have been only three arrest made. The left is paying many of these and they get a bonus if arrested. Appears many won’t be getting their bonuses thankfully.”

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill (R) said, “We are having a great time at the 2016 Republican National Convention at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland! This afternoon, we were delighted to meet Arizona’s controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio, commentator David Gergen, former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, and Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman.”

Rep. Butler said on Monday, “The theme tonight was “Make America Safe Again” do you feel safer after 8 years of Obama? His releasing of terrorist, bankrolling the leading nation of terror (Iran) and helping them to become nuclear along with pouring fuel on BLM, and forcing the states to take un-vetted refugees in my opinion has made America much un-safer than when he took office. Trump 2016 Make America Great Again.”

State Senator Tom Whatley (R-Lee County) said, “Great time with Senator Jabo Waggoner & others & an awesome crowd at the Republican National Convention.”

Not everything is going so well.

Former Alabama talk radio host, Gina Gentry Loudon, is reporting that, “There are eleven 11 confirmed and quarantined cases of Norovirus in our California delegation, according to the AP. Prayers appreciated.”

Republican nominee: Donald J. Trump will now face presumptive Democrat nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the November 8 election.
