Congratulations, President Trump

By Joey Kennedy

Say it. “I told you so.” It’s OK. It’s what I would have told you.

Donald Trump is our president. He was elected by American voters. I respect that completely.

If Americans want Trump as president, they have him.

He’s my president, too. I accept that.

I was wrong. My predictions were wrong. Trump wins. He’s president.

So now we have to figure out how to move forward. Let’s hope Trump’s people keep his Twitter account in check.

I confess: I was wrong. The people of our nation would rather have a xenophobe, a misogynist, a racist, a horrible human being as president than somebody reasonable. It’s scary. It is.

But Donald Trump won. He’s the president. He’s my president. We have to live with it.

The Angry White Man won.

No, I’m not happy with the result. But I’m willing to accept it. He’s our president. He’s my president. I salute President Trump.

The people voted. They chose their candidate. They won. Let’s live with it. Donald Trump is president.

We voted against our best interests. But we do that all the time. So there. That’s what we do.

We may regret it in a month or a year or whenever. But that’s what we chose.

Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate, but she was the Democrats’ candidate. She wasn’t terrible because of herself; she was terrible because of the media. Hillary Clinton was slammed unfairly. Emails? C’mon.

But that’s how it works.

Donald Trump was upset because “Saturday Night Live” joked about him. He was upset because he’s always upset. He’s going to be upset a lot. A president doesn’t go unscathed.

Please. Give him back his Twitter account.

But Donald Trump is our president. Let’s accept him. Let’s hope he can do what a president should do. Let’s hope he can do what a good human being would do.

I was wrong, and it’s not the first time. I’m sorry to those who felt I knew what would happen. I thought I did. I was wrong. I’m sorry, and I’m sorry.

This is hard for me. I certainly wanted Hillary to win. But she didn’t. We need to live with that. It happened. We have to live with it.

President Trump, congratulations. You’re my president, too.
