Ending illegal immigration must be a top priority

One of President Donald Trump’s most popular positions on the campaign trail last year was a commitment to securing our nation’s borders. Since taking office, this has been a shared top priority between President Trump and the House of Representatives.

President Trump first demonstrated his commitment to restoring the rule of law and tackling illegal immigration when he appointed Jeff Sessions as his attorney general. Jeff Sessions was the leader on immigration issues in the Senate, and he understands how allowing illegal immigration to go unchecked makes our country less safe and hurts the overall economy.

Brooks Calls 9th Circuit Court of Appeals the Most Error-Prone and Reversed Circuit Court of Appeal

Friday, February 10, 2017 U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R from Huntsville) announced that he was disappointed with the United States 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling against President Donald J. Trump’s immigration Executive Order.

Congressman Brooks said, “I am disappointed the 9th Circuit Court, often the most error-prone and reversed circuit court of appeal, ruled against President Donald Trump’s Executive Order to temporarily restrict travel into the United States from countries designated as terrorist-infested by the previous Obama Administration. Unfortunately, the 9th Circuit regularly hands down politically leftist, activist decisions. Fortunately, their politically motivated orders are frequently reversed by the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, American lives are at risk until this unfounded and reckless order is reversed by the Supreme Court.”

Beason’s Anti-illegal Immigration Bill Passes Senate Committee 7 to 1

Last week the Alabama House of Representatives passed HB658 which addressed many of the questions and concerns about HB56, the Hammon-Beason Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, which the Alabama legislature passed last year and which went into effect in October.  Senator Scott Beason (R) from Gardendale has introduced his own version of a new anti-illegal immigration bill, SB541.  Tuesday the Senate Job Creation and Economic Development Committee voted 7-1 for the bill, sending it to the full Alabama Senate for consideration.  Sen. Beason graciously agreed to answer questions from ‘The Alabama Political Reporter’ about his version of the anti-illegal immigration bill.
