The Roy Moore Campaign asked Jones why, “In light of the tragic not-guilty verdict for Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, the illegal immigrant who murdered Kate Steinle, why do you oppose securing the border and support DACA and other amnesty measures that will attract more illegal immigrants?”

The Moore campaign accused Jones of being silent following the jury verdict freeing Zarate for the murder of young Kate Steinle.

Shelby supports Trump’s opioid policy

U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., announced that he supports President Donald Trump’s declaration of a public health emergency in regard to opioid addiction:

“I applaud the President and his Administration on their efforts to end the opioid epidemic,” Sen. Shelby said. “This is a real emergency, and it affects just about every community in our country. Senator Jeanne Shaheen and I have been working on our Appropriations Subcommittee to make sure that both law enforcement and the Justice Department have the tools they need to fight this epidemic. It is going to take a massive effort, and I fully support President Trump’s attention to this matter.”

More Scandals swirl around Strange’s campaign

Many Alabama voters were already suspicious of the circumstances around former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley’s decision to appoint Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala., to the U.S. Senate; now new allegations are swirling around Strange, his personal finances, and his campaign finance chair.

State Auditor Jim Zeigler revealed on Tuesday that Strange owns 16 percent of a company that sells VISAs to wealthy foreigners, mostly Chinese.

Roby says appropriations fully funds National Defense and down payment on Border Wall

Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an appropriations package that fully funds government operations for the next fiscal year.

U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, said the bill demonstrates House Republicans’ commitment to setting responsible spending priorities.

Roby said that HR3354, the Make America Prosperous and Secure Appropriations Act, contains many conservative victories, including needed increases in military spending and a “down payment” on construction of a border wall.

2,787 donors fund Roy Moore campaign

Friday, July 14, 2017, the Roy Moore for US Senate campaign ​announced their fundraising numbers for the second quarter.

During the second quarter, the Moore campaign raised $305,612.60 from 2,787 donors. The vast majority of these donations came from small dollar donors, with 91 percent of donations received being under $100.00.

Chief Justice Moore said, “This race isn’t going to be decided by a Washington lobbyists cutting big checks. It is going to be decided by the retired veteran sending in $50 from his Social Security check. By the single mom who wants to see Alabama’s economy grow so she can her children a better life and goes online to give $25. This is going to be won by the people of Alabama. Strange would make Sanctuary Cities pay for the wall

Monday, May 15, 2017, Senator Luther Strange (R-Alabama) and David Perdue (R-Georgia) introduced the Securing the Border and Protecting Our Communities Act. The bill would prohibit certain Federal Transportation Grant Funds from being made available to sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with the Department of Justice in upholding immigration laws or who penalize local businesses for bidding to work on the border wall. Funds not directed to these cities would be reallocated for use under the Secure Fence Act of 2006 toward the completion of the wall.

Rogers proposes tax on wire transfers to pay for the Border Wall

Thursday, March 30, 2017, US Representatives Mike Rogers (R-Saks) introduced HR1813, the Border Wall Funding Act of 2017. This bill, which is supported and endorsed by FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, would impose a 2 percent fee on all remittances headed south of the US border.

Congressman Rogers said in a statement, “President Trump has made it very clear that he intends to complete a wall along our Southern border. As a senior member of the Homeland Security committee, I have long supported the border wall, which will protect Americans.”
