OSS veterans awarded Congressional Gold Medal

US Senator Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) announced that the veterans of the World War II-era Office of Strategic Services had been awarded a Congressional Gold Medal for their service to the country.

Sen. Shelby said in a statement, “I’m pleased to report that a bill was signed into law yesterday that will honor veterans of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the predecessor to the CIA, with a Congressional Gold Medal. I’m a proud cosponsor of this legislation to recognize the heroic contributions of the OSS’ members during World War II.”

Roby praises Trump’s cabinet appointments

Thursday, December 1, 2016, US Representative Martha Roby (R-Montgomery) said that she is impressed by many of the cabinet selections that President-elect Donald J. Trump (R) has made thus far.

Congresswoman Roby said, “I’ve always believed that good leaders surround themselves with smart, capable people, and that’s what President-elect Trump has done so far.”

Rep. Roby specifically applauded President-elect Trump’s selection of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) as Attorney General, Rep. Tom Price (R-Georgia) as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Representative Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Roby said that she has a positive working relationship with each of these appointments from serving in Congress for the last six years.

Shelby honors the life and legacy of Mike Spann

Thursday, November 17, 2016, US Senator Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) spoke on the Senate floor to reflect on the 15th anniversary of the death of Alabamian Johnny Micheal “Mike” Spann.

Sen. Shelby said, “I rise today to honor the life and legacy of an Alabama patriot and American hero, Johnny Micheal Spann. Nearly fifteen years ago – on November 25, 2001 – while fighting on behalf of our grateful nation, Mike made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in northern Afghanistan.”
