David Wheeler qualifies to run for Alabama House Seat

Thursday, January 11, 2018, David Wheeler has officially submitted his qualification paperwork and fees to the Alabama Republican Party for the Alabama House seat in District 47.

Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Republican David Wheeler announced today that he is running for Alabama House of Representatives, District 47.

Rep. Wheeler said in a statement, “I have a long track record of leadership and success in my professional career and with my civic, community and political endeavors,” Wheeler said. “My conservative philosophy will best represent the residents of District 47. Lathan re-elected as ALGOP Chairman

Saturday, February 25, 2017, the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee met at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover and re-elected Chairman Terry Lathan.

Chairman Lathan was elected without opposition as was the rest of the leadership team.

The Chairman said in a statement, “I am deeply humbled to have earned my team’s trust for another term as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. Our focus will be to protect our successes and add to them. Clearly, conservative values and principles resonate with Alabama voters. The Republican Party will continue to champion our platform.”

Leaked Recording Draws Shock and Ire

MONTGOMERY—A taped recording of a private meeting between Gov. Robert Bentley and the ALGOP Steering Committee was recently leaked to al.com’s Chuck Dean. Several members who were present at the meeting say the written report was a heavily edited version of what actually took place.

Wheeler Elected ALGOP Treasurer

On February 21, the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee met to vote on new leadership and elected former Alabama Power executive David Wheeler as the new Alabama Republican Party Treasurer.

Following his election, David Wheeler said in a statement on Facebook, “I am humbled by the trust that has been bestowed on me. Thanks to everyone who supported my campaign. On February 21, the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee will meet to vote for new leadership.  While Chairman is the most publicly interactive position, there are a number of other important positions being voted upon as well.  Former Alabama Power executive David Wheeler has announced that he is running for ALGOP Treasurer.

Alabama House District 47 candidate David Wheeler (R) addressed Republicans at the Jefferson County Republican Party Straw Poll in Gardendale.  David Wheeler said that he was challenging a three term incumbent Rep. Jack Williams.

Wheeler joined Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R) who headlined the event.  Republicans present enjoyed barbecue and fellowship while learning more about the Republican candidates in the upcoming June 3rd Republican Primary.

Greater Birmingham Young Republicans Will Hold Meeting on April 10

The monthly meeting of the Greater Birmingham Young Republican (GBYR) will be held in Thursday, April 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Pale Eddie’s Pour House in downtown Birmingham.

This month’s guest speakers will be the Republican candidates from Alabama House District 47 where incumbent Rep. Jack Williams (R) from Vestavia is facing a primary challenge from David Wheeler (R).

The cost of dues for the group are $25 for individuals and $35 for married couples.

Retired St. Clair County Circuit Judge Jim Hill Announces Candidacy for House District 50 Seat

Five Points, Alabama — Retired St. Clair County Circuit Judge Jim Hill has announced that he will run as a Republican candidate for the House District 50 legislative seat being vacated by State Rep. Jim McClendon (R – Spriqgville), who is running for the State Senate. The district includes portions  of St. Clair and Shelby counties.

Hill said he plans to focus his campaign on improving the economy and job market within the district and across Alabama, and he will work to bring a higher standard of ethics and account­ ability to Montgomery. Improving public education for parents and children ranks high on his priority list, as well.

The Alabama House District 47 Republican Primary is already starting to get heated. Former Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman David Wheeler of Vestavia has been actively campaigning in House District 47, challenging Republican incumbent, Jack Williams also from Vestavia.

Former Chairman Wheeler said in a written statement, “I am proud and humbled by the amount of support I have been receiving this year. It will take a strong grassroots campaign to beat an 9 year incumbent and our campaign has been receiving the support to do just that.”
