The Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants endorsed Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Will Sellers ahead of the 2018 Republican primary.

Sen. John Cornyn endorses Roy Moore for Senate

Wednesday, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, announced that he is endorsing Republican candidate Roy Moore in Alabama’s special election for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Jeff Sessions.

“Alabamians will soon elect a new U.S. Senator and I hope they will vote for the candidate who will follow in former Senator Sessions’ footsteps as a tireless advocate led by principle rather than politics,” Sen. Cornyn said. “That is why I am proud to offer my support to Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate. I look forward to working with him to pass legislation that will effect meaningful change for all Americans.”

Alabama Tea Party leader Danny Joyner dies

Alabama Patriots Commander Danny B. Joyner died Friday night. Danny Joyner was the organizing force behind the online group he promoted as the state’s oldest and largest Tea Party group.

Leaders and elected officials across the state were always eager to get Joyner and the Tea Party Patriots’ endorsements. Joyner said in a statement to the Alabama Political Reporter:

“Since it was established in 2009, the Alabama Patriots have endorsed dozens of statewide and national candidates and more than 85 percent of the candidates they have endorsed have gone on to win their elections.”

Roy Moore continues to rake in endorsements both in Alabama and from outside of the state. Even though President Donald Trump has endorsed his opponent, U.S. Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala.; Trump’s Housing and Urban Development head, Ben Carson, announced his support of Moore on Friday.

“Judge Moore is a fine man of proven character and integrity, who I have come to respect over the years. I was delighted to hear he is running for the US Senate,” Carson said. “He is truly someone who reflects the Judeo-Christian values that were so important to the establishment of our country. It is these values that we must return to in order to make America great again. I wish him well and hope everyone will make sure they vote on Tuesday.”

FRC Action, Alabama Patriots, Congressman Ted Yoho endorse Roy Moore

Monday, Roy Moore’s campaign received yet more endorsements. The conservative Senate candidate and former Alabama Chief Justice was endorsed by the legislative affiliate of the Family Research Council, FRC Action, U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fl., and the Alabama Patriots.

“These are challenging times and our nation is looking for bold leadership,” Tony Perkins, president of FRC Action, said. “Over the years Judge Moore has proven he is willing to stand up for our Constitution and fight for the rights of the people. From working with him and evaluating his record as a public servant, FRC Action PAC believes he will provide needed leadership on important issues in the U.S. Senate.”

Moore endorsed by primary opponents

Roy Moore’s campaign picked up several endorsements from former Republican primary challengers as the election draws closer.

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, endorsed Moore for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Jeff Sessions on Saturday.

Brooks finished third in the Aug. 15, Republican primary for U.S. Senate with 19.7 percent of the vote. Moore has also been endorsed by state Sen. Trip Pittman, R-Montrose, and former Alabama Christian Coalition President Randy Brinson who finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Thursday, the Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate Campaign announced that twenty more elected officials from both rural and urban areas of the state of Alabama had endorsed Moore. The campaign said that the announcement is demonstrative of the widespread, local support accumulating for Moore as he heads into the final week of the campaign.

“The backing of these public servants shows that Alabamians trust Judge Moore to champion our values in the United States Senate,” Moore Campaign Chairman Bill Armistead said. “Judge Moore is determined to take on the full force of the swamp and labor tirelessly for the people of our great state.”

Alabama voters go to the polls on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, to decide who they want to represent them in the US Senate seat vacated when Jeff Sessions (R) was confirmed as US Attorney General.

There are nine Republicans and seven Democrats vying for the position.

Democratic candidate Doug Jones picks up Biden endorsement

Doug Jones continues to pick up big-name endorsements in his bid to turn Jeff Sessions’ former Senate seat blue.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, on the heels of endorsements from Civil Rights icon Rep. John Lewis and Alabama Rep. Terri Sewell, tossed his support to Jones on Thursday.

In a statement calling Jones a “good friend,” Biden said that “Doug has spent his entire life fighting for justice.”
