Birmingham Waterworks Board chairwoman indicted

The Chairman of the Birmingham Water Works Board Sherry Lewis was indicted Wednesday for violating Alabama’s ethics laws.

Along with Lewis, the state and FBI also arrested a former vice president at Arcadis – the company formerly known as Malcolm Pirnie – Jerry Jones, and Mount Vernon Mayor Terry Williams, the owner of Global Solutions International, Inc., on felony state ethics charges. Jones was the vice president of engineering company, Arcadis. He managed the company’s multimillion dollar business with Birmingham Water Works.

The chairwoman of the scandal-plagued Birmingham Water Works Board and two others were arrested Wednesday on felony ethics charges.

BWW chairwoman Sherry Lewis was indicted by a special grand jury earlier this week on charges of misusing her office for personal gain, or the gain of a family member, voting on matters in which she had a personal interest and soliciting or accepting anything for the purpose of corruptly influencing official action.

Moore: Kneeling during National Anthem “disrespectful to country”

Wednesday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore announced that he supports President Donald J. Trump (R) and Vice President Mike Pence (R) in asking that all Americans respect our flag and country during the playing of the national anthem.

Former Chief Justice Moore made the statement in light of the recent refusal of NFL players to stand in respect for the national anthem, our flag and our country. “As a West Point graduate and Vietnam veteran, I know what it means to stand for our flag, defend our country and advance the freedoms America represents around the world,” Moore said.
