Toyota and Mazda to build massive new auto manufacturing plant in Limestone County

Wednesday, Toyota and Mazda announced that they were building a joint manufacturing plant at a site in Limestone County.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said, “Today is indeed a great day in the state of Alabama.”

“Growing businesses and creating opportunities for the people of Alabama is a process. I pledge to increase opportunities for the people of Alabama today and for generations to come. I am honored to announce that Toyota and Mazda has selected Alabama as home of their new production plant.”

On Tuesday, December 8, House District 5 Republican Primary voters went to the polls and elected Danny Crawford to be the Republican candidate to represent House District 5.

Special GOP Runoff Election in Limestone County Today

On Tuesday, December 8, House District 5 voters go to the polls to select the Republican candidate who will run in the Special General Election to decide who will be their next Representative in the Alabama State House.

Republicans Danny Crawford and Chris Seibert will be the two candidates on Tuesday’s ballot in Limestone County.

Seibert said in a statement, “It’s time we stopped taxing our families and businesses and demand accountability and fiscal responsibility from our government.  I will work hard to make sure we receive our fair share from Montgomery for our roads and schools.  Now more than ever our district needs a voice and representation at the state level and I will make sure our concerns and issues are heard. Storms Strike Alabama

According to UAB, tornados have killed 412 Alabamians since 1980, more than in any other state, and on Monday night an all too familiar weather event passing across the state added to that sad total only a day after Alabamians remembered the devastation that rocked communities across the state in 2011.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R) early on Monday night declared a State of Emergency for all Alabama counties as a result of the severe weather which was impacting the State.

The Fish and Wildlife Service Proposes Protection of Spring Pygmy Sunfish

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)has extended the public comment period on their plan to preserve the Spring Pygmy Sunfish.

According to a written statement by the USFWS, the Spring Pygmy Sunfish is threatened with extinction in the foreseeable future. The fish currently exists only in Beaverdam Spring/Creek in Limestone County. The fish used to live in two other creeks, but according to biologists are no longer found in those areas.
