Governor Ivey applauds President’s space policy directive

Monday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said that President Donald Trump’s new Space Policy Directive will lead to humans colonies on the moon and a human mission to Mars.

Trump signed the President Space Policy Directive 1 (SPD-1) on Monday. According to SPD-1, NASA will lead an innovative and sustainable program of exploration with commercial and international partners to enable human expansion across the solar system, and to bring back to earth new knowledge and opportunities. This program will begin with missions beyond low-Earth orbit, the United States will lead the return of humans to the moon for long-term exploration and utilization, followed by human missions to Mars and other destinations.

Moore says that the U.S. should move the embassy to Jerusalem

Roy Moore released a statement in supporting President Donald Trump’s and Vice President Mike Pence’s efforts to move the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“The Nation of Israel has traditionally found a strong ally in the United States of America.” Moore said. “I am grateful that the Trump-Pence Administration is actively working to restore the trust that was betrayed during the Obama era and I applaud their efforts to move the Embassy as a signal of our continued friendship.”

Sewell says Congress must hear from Manafort, Gates and Papadopoalos

Monday, it was announced that former Trump 2016 Campaign Manager Paul Manafort and his partner, Rick Gates, had both been indicted by charges brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller also announced that former Trump Campaign Foreign Policy Adviser George Papadopoulos had accepted a guilty plea.

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Selma, said that all three men should have to testify before the House Intelligence Committee, of which she is a member.

Shelby says budget passage in Senate first step toward tax reform

Friday, U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., praised the Senate’s passage of a budget resolution.

“Last night’s Senate passage of the budget resolution is a critical step toward pro-growth tax reform,” Shelby said in a statement. “Congress now has the opportunity to advance a comprehensive tax overhaul that will shift the nation’s economic landscape and provide relief to middle-class families. Hard-working Alabamians deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money. Passing this budget puts us one step closer to achieving that goal.”

Roy Moore cruises to a win over Strange

The voters of the Alabama Republican Party went to the polls and selected Roy Moore to be their nominee in the race for U.S. Senate.

The Washington elites led by Karl Rove, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the Senate Leadership Fund, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association, and the National Republican Senate Committee, all backed Strange.  The expensive outside lobbyists declared a media war on Moore.  Republicans voters received upwards of 50 mailers to their mailboxes.  TV and radio spots touting Strange and attacking Moore bombarded viewers and listeners for weeks.

Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, President Donald Trump was in Huntsville campaigning for U.S. Sen. Luther Strange,R-Ala.

As has become customary for Trump in Alabama he filled up yet another arena, this time the Von Braun Center.  This is the fifth time that Trump campaigned in Alabama in the last 25 months, and he remains popular here.  Will some of that off the chart enthusiasm rub off on Senator Strange, whose campaign has been struggling to connect with Alabama voters, despite millions of dollars spent on ads of all sorts.

President Trump approves Gov. Ivey’s request for Presidential Disaster Declaration

Monday, President Donald Trump approved Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey’s request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration for the state of Alabama. The president declared that an emergency exists in the state of Alabama and ordered federal assistance to supplement existing response efforts due to emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Irma beginning on Sept. 8, 2017, and continuing.

Ivey, during a phone call with the president Sunday, requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration to assist the state of Alabama in Hurricane Irma relief efforts.

Alabama offers assistance to Texas in Hurricane Harvey efforts

Monday, August 28, 2017, Alabamians and their leaders respond to the crisis in Texas following the flooding created by Hurricane Harvey.

Alabama Governor Ivey authorized the Alabama National Guard to Assist in Hurricane Harvey efforts.  Upon a request from the National Guard Bureau, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has authorized Alabama Adjutant General Sheryl Gordon to send two CH-47 Chinook Helicopters and two UH-60M medical aircraft, along with their respective crews, to assist in recovery efforts in Texas as a response to Hurricane Harvey.

Last Friday, thousands of people arrived in Washington, DC to march for an important cause: pro-life policies. The annual March for Life brings together people from all different backgrounds: Democrats and Republicans, men and women, young and old, southerners and northerners.

This year’s march was especially notable as Vice President Mike Pence spoke, marking the highest ranking United States government official to ever address the March for Life. The crowd was really energized, and I was especially excited students and pro-life advocates from Southwest Alabama traveled to DC to take part in the march. Read More
