Alabama leaders react to College Football National Championship

The University of Alabama college football team on Monday won yet another national championship when the team defeated the University of Georgia in overtime 26 to 23 in Atlanta.  This is the fifth national championship that Coach Nick Saban has won at the University of Alabama in the last nine years.  Many Alabama political leaders congratulated the team for once again achieving excellence in the sport.

Trump to attend National Championship Game

Multiple media outlets reported that President Donald Trump will be in Atlanta Monday night for the College Football National Championship Game.

Trump is reportedly set to attend the game with Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, First Lady Melania Trump and Nick Ayers, a Georgia native who is Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff. The game will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium under stepped-up security. Perdue is a former governor of Georgia.

Alabama beats Clemson, advances to National Championship

Monday, the University of Alabama football team won its playoff game, advancing to the National Championship Game.

This is the third year in a row that Alabama has faced the Clemson Tigers in the playoffs. Alabama defeated Clemson in the National Championship Game in 2015. In 2016, Clemson defeated Alabama in the National Championship Game. Both of those were close games. This year, Alabama dominated Clemson physically on both the offensive and defensive lines cruising to a 24 and six victory.

Shelby, Cantwell place bets on outcome of Alabama game

Tuscaloosa—The University of Alabama football team is seeking it’s fifth national championship in eight years under Coach Nick Saban. The playoffs for the Tide begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 31 in Atlanta’s Peach Bowl with a matchup against number fourth-ranked Washington.

US Senators Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) and Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) announced on Thursday a friendly wager on the outcome of the game.

Shelby and Sessions Introduce Resolution Commending the Alabama Football Team

On Thursday, Alabama Senators Richard Shelby (R) and Jeff Sessions (R) introduced a resolution commending the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team for their BCS national championship game victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Senator Shelby said in the joint resolution, “I congratulate the University of Alabama Crimson Tide for winning the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.  The University, the Crimson Tide faithful, and the entire State of Alabama can be proud of this team not only for winning, but for representing us on the national stage with integrity and class. Under Coach Saban’s impeccable leadership, the Tide dominated in the first half, both highlighting the skills of star players Eddie Lacy, T.J. Yeldon, and A.J. McCarron, as well as the cohesive playing power of the entire team.  I am proud to represent a state whose esteemed universities have brought home the national title for four years in a row and counting.  I would also like to offer my congratulations to Notre Dame on a great team and an outstanding season.”
