Byrne Says World Must Respond With Solidarity and Strength to Terrorist Attack in France

Thursday, July 14, a terrorist drove a truck through the crowded city streets of Nice, France at speed intentionally killing dozens of people. The driver reportedly fired guns into the crowd before he was finally gunned down by French police.

As of press time 84 people were reported killed and many more were injured. The southern France city was crowded with vacationers who were on holiday celebrating Bastille Day. At least two Americans, a father and son from Texas, were among the dead. At least ten of those killed were children.

Franklin Graham Holds Rally in Montgomery

Thursday, April 14, popular evangelist Franklin Graham was in Montgomery to urge the people of Alabama to pray for a spiritual renewal in this nation. A number of Alabama’s leaders attended the event at the state capital.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R) said, “It is great to have Franklin Graham in Montgomery today. I enjoyed seeing so many Alabamians in Montgomery for the Franklin Graham Decision America prayer rally!”

On Wednesday, June 24, the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans will be holding a breakfast with Alabama Republican Party Chair Woman, Terry Lathan.

Carson to Speak in Alabama

ben carson doctorThe Presidential Primary Season is heating up in Alabama.  GOP Presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson will be in town for the Grid Iron Men’s Conference where he is one of the speakers.  Dr. Carson will be back on June 28, to speak at the Christianity in America Celebration at the Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.

Dr. Carson issued a statement on Thursday following the slayings of the church members in South Carolina: “Last night evil walked the streets of Charleston. My heart aches for the families of the victims. I pray for the families left behind. I pray for the community scared and hurting. I also pray you and I can conquer hatred.  In my lifetime I have seen such great progress. Though racial based hate is still very much alive as last night so violently reminded us.”

Christians Hold Prayer Rallies Across State and Nation

Monday, October 6 a Catholic Christian group, American Needs Fatima, announced in a written statement that they were organizing public prayer rallies across the country to publicly ask God for a moral renewal in America.

Chelsea Rally Team Captain, Mrs. Druscilla Chauffe, OP said in a written statement, “I received a call from America Needs Fatima asking me to participate as a team captain. I knew that I couldn’t say ‘no’ to their request because I have been feeling so helpless as I watch America fall in moral decay. I pray for America daily but I just haven’t felt that my prayer alone was going to change things. Therefore, leading a rally with people around the community in a public place was one way that I could help in a slightly more profound way. Catholics and other Christian denominations need to exercise their God-given Constitutional rights of freedom of religion and freedom of assembly by praying in the public square for the return of our Nation to it’s foundational roots of Christianity.”

Lord, I know you look after the little ones. And, I know Your Word tells us to have the faith of a tiny mustard seed. But sometimes it’s so hard. Those kids and teachers in Connecticut didn’t deserve the terror that Satan sent to their school that Friday morning. Lord, why do things like that have to happen? That was an elementary school. I know they were all afraid.
