A host of candidates have qualified for the state’s constitutional offices.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has qualified for her own term in the office of governor. She was elevated from lieutenant governor to the position last April when Gov. Robert Bentley resigned.
Ivey faces a number of Republican primary opponents. Evangelist Scott Dawson, state Sen. Bill Hightower, R-Mobile, Michael McAllister and Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle have all qualified for the Republican primary.
