Democrat Doug Jones leading Roy Moore by 10 points in Fox Poll as surveys diverge

With less than 24 hours to go until polls open in the Senate special election, a new Fox News Poll shows Democratic candidate Doug Jones with a sizable 10-point lead over Republican Roy Moore.

The poll, released Monday morning, shows Jones with consolidated support among Democrats, a large lead among independents and one-in-10 Republican voters crossing over to vote for the former U.S. attorney. Such a coalition has been the hope of Jones’ camp since the race began.

Former Gov. Siegelman announces book about legal case, says he’s still innocent

Former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman announced he is writing a new book about his legal case, which landed him a conviction in federal prison for five years.

Siegelman said this during an interview with the Alabama Political Reporter’s Editor-in-Chief Bill Britt during a live taping of the TV show The Voice of Alabama Politics, where Britt is a host.



The former governor was in Montgomery at Troy University’s Davis Theater for a showing of Atticus V. The Architect, which is a documentary about his criminal case.

Judge Walker Issues Late Night Order on Coleman Tapes

MONTGOMERY—Despite Baron Coleman’s assurances to Judge Jacob Walker III, that he would not release taped conversations between he and Deputy Attorney General Matt Hart, the judge issued a protective order barring him from disseminating them publicly, then hours later he issued an amended version which included Coleman’s statements to the court in a closed hearing.

Coleman told the court he secretly recorded conversations between he and Hart and that he “put two and two together,” and now claims the tapes may show prosecutorial misconduct in the felony case against Speaker Mike Hubbard.

Hubbard Critic Coleman Now Claims Leaks from Prosecution

MONTGOMERY—Once again, Speaker Mike Hubbard’s criminal lawyers are seeking to have his case dismissed citing prosecutorial misconduct, based on an affidavit by attorney and radio talk show host Baron Coleman.

On February 2, Coleman claimed he had between 50 and 100 conversations with Matt Hart, Chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit. “These conversations were in reference to the Mike Hubbard investigation, and the Lee County Special Grand Jury,” Coleman said in his sworn statement to the court.
