Congressman Spencer Bachus’s reelection campaign issued a press release announcing that Rep. Bachus had received endorsements from six Republican Sheriffs.  Sheriff Keith Hannah (Bibb County), Sheriff Kevin Davis (Chilton County), Sheriff Terry Wilson (Coosa County), Sheriff Mike Hale (Jefferson County), Chris Curry (Shelby County), and Sheriff Terry Surles (St. Clair County) have all endorsed Congressman Spencer Bachus (R) from Vestavia.

The Sheriffs’ endorsement letter said, “As a leader in Washington D.C., Spencer has always been available and ready to work with the entire law enforcement community on issues affecting public safety.  His voting record has been excellent on the issues that matter most to us,” the sheriffs said in the letter.  “We have always known Spencer as a public servant of commitment and integrity and it is without hesitation that we endorse him for re-election.”

The press release said that Rep. Bachus (R) from Vestavia, “has been at the forefront of the fight to provide the law enforcement community with the tools necessary to protect the public, including playing a lead role in bringing the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) to Alabama. The NCFI has been a documented success in putting criminals behind bars through its training of state and local law enforcement officers and judges to investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate sophisticated computer-related crimes. Training at the Center has resulted in scores of sexual predators being taken off the street. Additionally, Spencer has made invaluable contributions to public safety in our communities by working with us to improve electronic communications and data sharing among law enforcement agencies and by helping us to combat the scourge of meth labs.”

Rep. Bachus has also been endorsed by the Business Council of Alabama

“Spencer Bachus has been a strong advocate for job creation and eliminating unnecessary federal regulations,” said Terry Kellogg, chairman of the BCA board of directors and president and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama.  “His dedication to pro-growth policies that help create jobs is why our board of directors is proud to support him for reelection.”

Rep. Bachus was also endorsed by the National Right to Life PAC.  The endorsement letter says, “During the current 112th Congress, you have once again compiled a 100 percent pro-life voting record. This includes your votes in support of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 3) and the Protect Life Act (H.R. 358). You also voted in favor of proposals to cut off federal funding for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s major provider of abortions.  We also express our appreciation for your co-sponsorship of a number of major pro-life bills, including the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R.3803) and the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (H.R. 2299).”

Rep. Spencer Bachus is seeking to be reelected for his 11th term to the United State Congress.  Senator Beason, Tea Party Activist Al Mickle from Alabaster, and Blount County Probate Judge David Standridge are all running against Bachus in the March 13th Republican Primary.  The winner of the Republican Primary will then face Alabama Democratic Party opposition from either retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Penny Huggins Bailey from Leeds or Birmingham attorney William “Bill” Barnes in the November 6th general election.  Terry Reagin from Leeds has announced that he has suspended his campaign to attempt to quallify for the ballot as an independent.
