Monique Solorzano is Named the New Director of Events and Membership for SubAla

The Subcontractors Association of Alabama (SubAla) has named Monique Solorzano as its Director of Events and Membership.  SuAla represents subcontractors and specialty contractors in Alabama.

The CEO of SubAla, David Feemster said, “SubAla is thrilled to be undertaking many events previously held by the American Subcontractors Association (Alabama Chapter), and is excited to welcome Monique Solorzano as well as the many American Subcontractors Association (Alabama Chapter) members that have recently joined our association.  With the hiring of Ms. Solorzano as SubAla’s Director of Events and Membership, we are confident of the success of these events, our continued growth with new membership, and SubAla’s ability to be the prevailing unified voice of Alabama’s subcontractors and specialty contractors throughout the state.”

Ms. Solorzano was previously the Executive Director of the American Subcontractors Association (Alabama Chapter).  Solorzano will be in charge of SubAla’s events and new membership recruitment.  Ms. Solorzano is a 1992 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Marketing.

SubAla was previously named the Alabama Roofing Sheet Metal Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (ARSM-HACCA) and has served Alabama’s heating and cooling contractors since its beginnings in 1955.

SubAla works with Alabama’s legislature and regulatory agencies to protect and defend the rights of Alabama subcontractors.  SubAla is involved in drafting legislation, amending regulations, and fighting bills that are detrimental to Alabama’s Subcontractors and Specialty Contractors.  SubAla says that they are involved, “with numerous legislative issues, including but not limited to, immigration, workers compensation, mechanics liens, prompt payment, licensing requirements, industry oversight, and qualified workforce recruitment.”

SubAla also provides educational resources including and electronic library and seminars on current topics affecting Alabama subcontractors as well as timely legal information for its membership through its partnership with the law firm of Ogletree and Deakins. SubAla also sponsors the oldest self-insured workers compensation fund (WorkersFirst CompFund) in Alabama.  SubAla has over 400 active members.
