Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Congressman Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) won the highest percentage of victory during yesterday’s elections in Alabama. Palmer received 75 percent of the vote in District Six, giving him the highest victory compared to other federal races across the State.

Congressman Palmer said in a statement, “Ann and I are grateful for the support we received throughout the campaign. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the people of Alabama’s sixth congressional district for providing us this opportunity to continue our service to this great nation.”

Palmer said, “The American people delivered a clear message last night. They not only entrusted us with the White House, they entrusted us by maintaining the Republican majorities in the House and Senate. It is now up to us to honor that trust and deliver on our promises.”

Rep. Palmer concluded, “Historic moments present us with historic opportunities. America is a great nation and deserves great service from those in Washington. I look forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues and President-elect Trump to take on the great challenges ahead to get a nation back on the right track and to make America great again. Thank you again for your prayers and your support. I look forward to serving you!”

Palmer defeated challenged David Putman to win a second term representing the Sixth Congressional District.

According to The Cook Political Report, the Sixth and Fourth (represented by Republican Robert Aderholt) Congressional Districts are tied as the most Republican-leaning districts in the State of Alabama with a Republican leaning of 28 percentage points (based on voting in the 2012 and 2008 presidential elections). The Seventh Congressional District represented by Terri Sewell (D-Selma) is the only congressional district in Alabama that leads Democrat (by 20 points). The most competitive District is the First, represented by Congressman Bradley Byrne (R) where Republicans just have a fifteen point advantage. Representatives Sewell, Aderholt, and Byrne had no general election opponent.
