A number of Alabama elected officials shared Christmas greetings with constituents via social media in the days leading up to our culture’s biggest holiday.

US Representative Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) wrote, “As we gather with friends, family and loved ones for Christmas celebrations, I want to share with you a passage of scripture that is part of what I read to my family every Christmas morning:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6.

With the hope and joy this season brings, I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas.”

US Representative Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) wrote, “As we enter the Christmas weekend, it is my wish that each and every one of you have a blessed and happy holiday.

US Representative Bradley Byrne (R-Montrose) wrote, “I hope everyone takes time during this Christmas season to worship intentionally and spend time with their loved ones. Between the hustle and bustle of the holidays, don’t forget to celebrate and reflect on the things that are important in your life. And, never forget that, no matter how bad and difficult things may seem, the light always shines in the darkness. So, from my family to yours – Merry Christmas!”

The Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives Mac McCutcheon (R-Monrovia) wrote, “We wanted to wish all our friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We love the Christmas season and the goodwill the season brings. It is a time for us to reflect over the past years and be grateful for our blessings. It is not WHO you are, but WHAT you are, that is most important. Christmas is about love, grace, and people. This Christmas we will give thanks for the gift of friendship and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ!!! Thanks to each of you for your gift to us!!”

Alabama Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey (R) wrote, “Christmas for most of us is a time to exchange gifts and spend time with those who mean the most. Others are consumed with the busyness of the season, traveling to visit loved ones and finding ways to financially stretch in hopes of spreading Christmas cheer. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season, may we not lose focus on the reason for the season.”
