Tuscaloosa—The University of Alabama football team is seeking it’s fifth national championship in eight years under Coach Nick Saban. The playoffs for the Tide begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 31 in Atlanta’s Peach Bowl with a matchup against number fourth-ranked Washington.

US Senators Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) and Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) announced on Thursday a friendly wager on the outcome of the game.

If the Huskies win, Senator Shelby will provide two racks of ribs from Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for Senator Cantwell’s office. If the Crimson Tide wins, Senator Cantwell has promised to deliver salmon to Senator Shelby’s office.

Senators Shelby said in a statement, “These two teams should be extremely proud of their accomplishments so far in the season. I have no doubt that Coach Saban will have our team prepared and that they will represent our State well during this match-up. I’m pleased to enter into this friendly wager with my colleague, and I’m confident that the Crimson Tide will prevail and take us into another national championship game.”

Senator Cantwell said, “This will be one of the best games of the year. There’s no doubt that Alabama has a powerhouse program, but I’ll be cheering the Dawgs on to victory.”

The winner of the game will still have to play the winner of the Ohio State and Clemson game in the National Championship game on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Tampa Bay, Florida.
