By Brandon Moseley
Alabama Political Reporter

Thursday, May 18, 2019, US Senate candidate Dr. Randy Brinson (R) spoke to the St. Clair County Republican Party at their monthly meeting in the St. Clair County Courthouse in Pell City.

Brinson said that he is a physician in Montgomery and that he is also international agri-businessman and served as the health care advisor to former Governor Fob James (R).

Brinson said that there are four serious candidates and three of those have been career politicians. They all have run for political offices for the last thirty years. During that same time I have started four businesses.

Brinson said that International trade is the only way we are going to grow our economy in rural places like Pell City. Brinson said that when the catfish industry was down he created a market in South America. Brinson also said that working with John McMillan and the Department of Agriculture he has created a market for organic coffee from Guatemala; helped obtain a grant for Auburn University to feed the people in the third world; and has helped open up markets in South Africa for Alabama chickens while improving technology for South African farmers.

Brinson said that every container ship to go out of the port of mobile that is 100 jobs. I will be in Africa on Monday to sign two key agreements. Their governments are providing large blocks of land that they aren’t using for Alabama farmers to grow corn, soybeans, cotton, and peanuts. I will buy the crop and the farmers will be paid the retail price and that money comes home to Alabama.

Brinson said that he is against Common Core.

Brinson said that one problem with African trade for agribusiness is that the African nations want non-GMO (genetically modified organisms). “They are changing that now.”

Brinson said that he wants to make Alabama a place where our children and grandchildren want to live in.

St. Clair County Republicans Party Chairman Lance Bell said that the party would try to have a lunch or candidate forum at some point during the summer for US Senate candidates.

There are eleven Republican candidates seeking the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions (R) when he was confirmed by the Senate as US Attorney General. They include: James Paul Beretta, Joseph F. Breault, Randy Brinson, Mo Brooks, Dom Gentile, Karen Haiden Jackson, Mary Maxwell, Roy Moore, Bryan Peeples, Trip Pittman, and Luther Strange.

Brinson is a former President of the Alabama Christian Coalition and co-founder of Redeem the Vote.

St. Clair County is heavily Republican. In November, Donald Trump (R) got 31,579 votes there to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s (D) 5,550.
