Scott Dawson will officially qualify for governor’s race today

Thursday, Scott Dawson will officially qualify as a Republican candidate for governor.

Dawson will qualify on-air on the popular Rick and Bubba Show in Vestavia Hills. The Alabama Republican Party has online registration, which Dawson will fill out live on the radio between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

“We need a vision for Alabama that everybody can buy into,” Dawson told the Alabama Political Reporter in June. “It takes more than just one man sitting in an office in Montgomery making plans. We need both Houses of the State Legislature to buy in. We need to get the mayors and the county commissioners involved. We need everybody in the State working together to make Alabama better so that kids that grow up in Alabama can stay in Alabama, and have successful lives here, so that we don’t have to get on a plane to go visit our grandkids.”

Dawson is a prominent evangelist and youth pastor. According to the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association website, “Since being established in 1987, the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association has grown from one man giving testimonials at youth rallies to a comprehensive outreach organization that extends across all ages and denominations offering a unifying message of hope to America and beyond. Scott’s evangelistic creativity has inspired numerous successful event ministries such as Safe At Home, AtlantaFest, StadiumFest, Wake Up America! and UrbanFest, allowing him to present the Gospel to more than a million people.”

The election major party primaries will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Dawson joins a crowded GOP field. Gov. Kay Ivey, state Sen. Bill Hightower, R-Mobile, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Michael McAllister have already qualified in the Republican primary.
