Lieutenant governor: The “best way for all of us to stand together is for all of us to stay apart”

Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth on Tuesday released a video on social media platforms that outlines the serious threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the video, Ainsworth urges Alabamians to take the steps necessary to stop its further spread.

“The best way to stop the spread of this virus is to isolate yourself as if you have the virus,” Ainsworth said.  “Alabamians have always shown courage in crisis, so at this critical time, the best way for all of us to stand tall together is for all of us to stay apart.”

Among the recommendations offered by Ainsworth are implementing social distancing; staying away from bars, restaurants, and other public gatherings; keeping children at home and avoiding playdates; and using simple common sense. His video comes as the state ordered additional restrictions on six Alabama counties that include limiting restaurants and bars to take-out and delivery. All schools will also be closed in the counties, including preschools and private schools.
