Tuesday, November 21, 2017, the Raycom News Network and Strategic Research released a poll showing Judge Roy Moore up by two points over former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones.  The Moore campaign had been easily outdistancing the Jones campaign and appeared to be running away with the race, until a Washington Post story torpedoed the Moore campaign alleging improper treatment of women by a single Moore after he finished law school. The Raycom poll from November 8; before the release of the women from the 1970s allegations that made national and international news; showed Moore up by 8 points.

Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, the Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate Campaign unveiled key witnesses that they claim “debunk” mainstream media claims that Moore was banned from the Gadsden Mall.

“We are intent upon bringing out the truth, when no one in the press or in D.C. seems to care,” said Moore campaign strategist, Brett Doster. “The quotes from these three people who would have personal knowledge of the mall’s security protocol completely counter everything alleged by the liberal media and the Moore Campaign’s political enemies.  Roy Moore is an honorable man, and his character is being affirmed by those who know him best.”

Thursday, the campaign for lieutenant governor became heated when Public Service Commission President Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh took a shot at opponent state Rep. Will Ainsworth, R-Guntersville, for his association with U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida.

“On Thursday night, apparently the Representative running for Lieutenant Governor will be holding a high-dollar, closed-door event with his great friend, Washington Insider Marco Rubio,” Cavanaugh said. “This is the same Marco Rubio that is tight with Mitch McConnell and the DC Swamp; the same Marco Rubio that was a member of the Gang of Eight with the likes of John McCain and Jeff Flake working for amnesty for illegal immigrants; the same Marco Rubio that admitted he disagreed with Jeff Sessions on immigration policy.”

Alabama Accountability Act:  By the numbers

November 1, 2017

By Larry Lee
Education Matters

Now that we have several years of experience with the Alabama Accountability Act, let’s look as closely as possible at the numbers available to see what’s been done.

The legislation creating AAA was passed early in 2013 under rather mysterious conditions. Basically one bill went into a conference committee and a radically different one emerged a few hours later. It was as if you went to pick up your prom date, she met you at the door of her house all cute and bubbly and told you to wait a moment while she got her coat. And minutes later her mother shows up, wrinkles and all, and says “let’s go have fun.”
