Ford Reacts to Revelations of Governor’s Healthcare Exchange

From the Office of House Minority Leader Craig

GADSDEN—House Minority Leader Craig recently send a statement to the Alabama Political Reporter expressing his outrage over Governor Bentley’s building the Alabama Healthcare Exchange. In his email Ford wrote, “This is another example of the Republican Supermajority failing to lead. The governor has been putting this health insurance exchange together in secret for over a year because he doesn’t trust his own leadership in the state Senate and House of Representatives. It is deeply disturbing that the governor has chosen to bypass the legislature and spend $15 million taxpayer dollars on a health insurance exchange that may be ruled unconstitutional. The people of Alabama deserve to know what is happening with their healthcare, and if the healthcare law is upheld in court, then House and Senate Democrats demand that the health insurance exchange be created with public input and after thorough public review and debate.”

Craig Ford is the owner of Ford Insurance and the Gadsden Messenger. He represented Etowah County in the Alabama House of Representatives for 18 years.
