MONTGOMERY—State Representative Jim Barton (R-Mobile) has told the Alabama Political Reporter that he is not resigning his office.
Rumors surfaced on blogs, Twitter and Facebook saying that Barton, the powerful Chairman of the Ways and Means General Fund Committee, was stepping down to take a position with a lobbying firm.
Barton says the rumors are unfounded, saying he has “no plans” at the this time.
Barton did express surprise and even laughed at many of the wild rumors circulating around the political world.
He said he hoped to put the gossip to rest by coming forward with the facts.
