Club for Growth PAC backs Barry Moore for Congress

The PAC says it supports limited government and economic freedom.

Congressman Barry Moore

The powerful conservative Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Rep. Barry Moore, R-Alabama, for reelection to Congress representing Alabama’s Second Congressional District.

“In his first year in the House, Rep. Barry Moore has proven to be a true economic conservative who has fought against the Establishment to support lower taxes, fewer regulations, and term limits,” said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh. “We look forward to supporting his winning reelection campaign.”

The Club for Growth identifies itself as “a national network of over 500,000 pro-growth, limited government Americans who share in the belief that prosperity and opportunity come from economic freedom.”

Its website lists its top policy goals as:

  • Reducing income tax rates and repealing the death tax
  • Replacing the current tax code with a fair/flat tax
  • The full repeal of ObamaCare and the end of abusive lawsuits through medical malpractice/tort reform
  • Reducing the size and scope of the federal government
  • Cutting government spending and passing a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution
  • Regulatory reform and deregulation
  • Expanding school choice

A report by The Guardian found the PAC to be one of the top backers of Republican lawmakers who sought to overturn the US election results, giving an estimated $20M directly and indirectly to 42 right-wing candidates in 2018 and 2020.

On Jan. 6, Moore was involved in the effort to block the certification of electoral votes while a rally grew into a riot just outside.

Moore serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and as ranking member of the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee for Veterans Affairs. Moore is a former member of the Alabama House, a veteran, a small businessman, a husband, and a father of four from Enterprise.

“Since being sworn in almost twelve months ago, I’ve worked night and day for the people of the Wiregrass, keeping the promises I made to be transparent, put their interests first, and fight the Washington establishment that always wants to spend more hard-earned taxpayer dollars and erode our God-given rights,” Moore said.

“Washington needs more public servants with callouses on their hands, and it’s an honor to bring to Washington our Alabama values and the work ethic I learned growing up on my family farm, serving in the National Guard, and making a living as a small business owner. I appreciate Club for Growth for their endorsement and for recognizing that I am already doing the job the people I serve elected me to do.”
