Oxford Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Bill Partridge has officially endorsed former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell for attorney general, his campaign said on Tuesday.
Partridge has led the Oxford Police Department since 2007 and is widely credited with transforming it into one of the most community-focused departments in the Southeast.
“Jay has demonstrated a deep, enduring commitment to law enforcement in our state,” Partridge said. “He understands the challenges faced by our officers and the crucial role they play in maintaining public safety. His support for law enforcement is not just about backing the tools and resources officers need, but also about reinforcing the trust and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. By investing in both the legal framework and the practical needs of law enforcement, Jay aims to create an environment where every Alabama resident feels secure and protected.”
Mitchell thanked Partridge for his endorsement.
“Take a look at what Chief Partridge has built in Oxford and see how it serves the entire state,” Mitchell said. “His record of raising the bar for law enforcement in Alabama speaks for itself, and his endorsement is a great honor.”
“As Attorney General, I’ll make sure leaders like him have the backing, resources, and respect they deserve. Alabama’s law enforcement officers are on the frontlines of protecting our communities—and they’ll always have my full support,” Mitchell said.
Partridge’s endorsement “adds to a growing coalition of law enforcement leaders across Alabama who trust Jay Mitchell to stand firm against crime and back the blue,” Mitchell’s campaign saidOc.
