The Lawrence County Republican Executive Committee voted last week to support Dr. Angelo “Doc” Mancuso’s continued placement on the Republican primary ballot for Alabama House District 7 after supporters of his opponent filed a challenge seeking to remove him from contention.
In a letter to the State Steering Committee, the Lawrence County Republican Executive Committee opposed removing Mancuso from the ballot.
“We strongly believe that removing Dr. Mancuso from the ballot would not only undermine local confidence but also create negative perception of our party at the local, state and even national levels,” the committee wrote. “For those reasons, we respectfully urge the State Steering Committee to allow Dr. Angelo Mancuso to qualify as a candidate in accordance with our bylaws. Our Republican voters want and deserve the opportunity to choose their representatives.”
“I am honored for the Lawrence County Republican Executive Committee to support me and the voters of District 7,” Mancuso said. “This is not about party loyalty—it’s about voter choice. My opponent Ernie Yarborough’s attempt to remove me from the ballot is un-American. Republican voters deserve the right to decide who represents them.”
Mancuso, a Republican candidate for Alabama House District 7, called on the Alabama Republican Executive Committee to reject efforts to disqualify him from the Republican primary ballot ahead of the May 19 election.
