The Home Builders Association of Alabama announced last week its endorsement of Rhett Marques in the special election for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District.
“We are proud to endorse Rhett Marques for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District,” HBAA First Vice President Jim Mathews said. “Rhett is a proven fighter for all Alabamians. We are confident that his leadership will help roll back unnecessary and burdensome regulations and, in doing so, will help make the American dream of homeownership a reality for all.”
During his time in the Alabama Legislature, Marques cut more than $1.5 billion in taxes and “fought to slash unnecessary government regulations that delay construction and drive up costs,” Marques’ campaign said in a press release.
“I’m honored to have the support of the Home Builders Association of Alabama,” Marques said. “Owning a home is part of the American Dream. As Alabama’s next congressman, I’ll take Alabama common sense to Washington to lower costs and get government out of the way so builders can build and more hardworking families can afford a home.”
Marques’ supporters include President Donald Trump; Senator Katie Britt, R-Alabama; Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth; the Alabama Farmers Federation; the Alabama Forestry Association; Manufacture Alabama; and the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama.
The special Republican primary for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District will be held August 11, 2026.
