Thursday evening, Governor Kay Ivey informed Corrections Commissioner Greg Lovelace that she would not exercise her clemency powers for Jeremy Williams and directed Lovelace to proceed with Williams’ lawfully imposed death sentence for the 2021 capital murder of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland.
“On December 13, 2021, Mr. Williams paid the mother of Kamarie Holland $2,500 so he could sexually abuse her five-year-old child for one hour. During that time, he subjected the little girl to methamphetamine, prolonged sexual abuse, including rape, before strangling her to death, leaving her lifeless body beneath a tarp while recording his episode of evil on his cell phone,” the governor’s press release stated.
Ivey also issued the following statement:
“There are few words to adequately describe the depth and depravity of Jeremy Williams’ evil act. The unspeakable nature of this crime is exactly why we have the death penalty statute in the state of Alabama. Kamarie Holland is an innocent girl who is no longer with us, but she finally received justice tonight. May God bless little Kamarie Holland,” Ivey said.
Williams’ time of death was announced at 6:16 p.m. CDT.
