Qualifying for House District 30 Special Election Opens

Republican Candidates Must Qualify by August 24

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Today, the Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee approved the special election primary resolution, effectively opening the qualification period for the House District 30 Special Election. This seat was vacated by Blaine Galliher once he accepted Governor Bentley’s appointment to join his administration as Legislative Director.  House District 30 includes Eastern Etowah and Northern St. Clair Counties.

The special primary election will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. If a special run-off election becomes necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, with the special general election then being held on January 29, 2013. If no primary runoff election is needed, then the general election will be held on Tuesday, December 11.

Conservatives who are interested in running in the Republican primary, have until 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 24 to turn in their qualifying forms and fee to the Alabama Republican Party headquarters located in Homewood.
