Governor Mitt Romney accepts the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Alabama Republicans responded with enthusiasm. This is more continuing coverage of the Republican National Convention by ‘The Alabama Political Reporter.’

Romney told the assembled Republicans delegates, “Now is the moment when we can stand up and say, “I’m an American. I make my destiny. And we deserve better! My children deserve better! My family deserves better. My country deserves better!”

Alabama State Senator Scott Beason said on Twitter, “Romney did a great job. Very Reaganesque.”

Alabama State Senate Spokesman Derek Trotter said, “Very very excellent speech. Best I’ve ever heard him. Very Presidential.”

Alabama State Senator Clay Scofield said on Facebook, “What an incredible night! Mitt Romney delivered an unbelievable speech! Look out Obama, we’re coming for you in November! God Bless America!”

Alabama State Representative Jack Williams said, “I thought Romney’s speech was very Reaganesqe – very hopeful and optimistic about the future of America.”

Alabama State Representative Jay Love said, “Romney hit a Big Time Home Run!”

Meghan McCain told her Twitter followers, “Utterly fantastic and inspiring speech!! Mitt hit it home tonight. Democrats will be getting extremely nervous right about now.”

Preceding the Romney speech Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead said ,”Our country is at a crossroads unlike any we’ve experienced in our history. For many decades we have watched our federal government slowly expand, ever encroaching into areas of our lives it has no business being. During the last four years, government growth has exploded exponentially under the direction of President Barack Obama, while stifling growth in the private sector. He is unapologetic about the devastating economic policies that have left our nation floundering and Americans struggling just to make ends meet.”

Alabama State Senator Bryan Taylor said, “The balloons have dropped. The party is united. The nation is looking for leadership.”

Chairman Armistead said, “Governor Romney will not fail us. The reason he will not fail us is because he believes in America. He understands that we must return to the principles of liberty that made us the most prosperous nation in the world. He knows that America’s best days are still to come. Tonight, we stand with Mitt Romney, in the strength of our convictions, to restore America’s greatness as we fight for our American dream.”
