Roby Says Obamacare will Cost Americans Time and Money

By Brandon Moseley
Alabama Political Reporter

On Thursday, Congresswoman Martha Roby (R) from Montgomery touted a new report from the White House Office of Management and Budget that shows that the President’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) will cost businesses, families, and health care providers millions of hours to comply with all of the new regulations that the omnibus health care act requires.

Rep. Roby said on Facebook, “127 million hours! That’s how much time will be required by businesses, families, and health care providers each year in order to fully comply with Obamacare according to a new report. These numbers come directly from the White House and the Office of Management and Budget.”

Congresswoman Roby said, “This kind of “big government” red tape and overregulation is bogging down our economy and obstructing economic growth. One of my primary goals in Congress is to sniff out excess spending and burdensome regulations to rein in the size and scope of government. I remain committed to repealing Obamacare, but I’ll also look into other overreaching laws that make it harder businesses to grow and for workers to find a good job.”

The Restore America’s Voice Foundation wrote on Facebook, “The IRS has issued new ObamaCare rules. The new rules, predictably, use incomprehensible examples but they make one thing perfectly clear: the IRS expects family coverage to cost $20,000 a year by 2016! Remember, the primary justification for ramming this down our throats was control of healthcare costs. Pelosi promised a $2,500 per family reduction. We’ll get the opposite and worse. It was all insulting flim-flam and now the truth is emerging.”

The Heritage Foundation wrote, “When Obamacare was passed, its supporters insisted the law would “bend the cost curve down” and “reduce the deficit.” Today, reality has set in. The Congressional Budget Office estimates Obamacare will add almost $1.6 trillion in new spending over the next 10 years. It obligates an estimated $1 trillion for subsidies to individuals for purchasing coverage through the government exchanges and $644 billion for states agreeing to expand their Medicaid programs. To help pay for the new entitlements, it takes over $700 billion out of an “old” one—Medicare, a program already teetering on the brink of insolvency. It also relies on unsound and unreliable savings, shifty Washington budget gimmicks, and imposes over $800 billion in new penalties and taxes that affect all Americans.”

Congresswoman Roby Represents Alabama’s Second Congressional District.  Roby has been a vocal critic of the President’s healthcare plan since she first announced her run for Congress.
