Rep. Sewell’s statement on Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity

Sewell called the decision “disturbing and anti-democratic.”

Rep. Terri Sewell

Monday, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity:

“This disturbing and anti-democratic decision by the Supreme Court’s conservative majority is contrary to our nation’s founding principle that no one is above the law. At a time when our democracy is already facing serious challenges, this ruling gives a green light to future presidents to abuse their power and sets an extremely dangerous precedent that should concern every American.”
