Judge J. Elizabeth “Beth” Kellum on Wednesday officially announced her candidacy for re-election to the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 2. A long-serving member of the court, Kellum has over 17 years of judicial experience and a record of fairness, integrity and dedication to the law, her release shared.
“I have been honored to serve the people of Alabama on the Court of Criminal Appeals, and I am eager to continue that work,” said Kellum. “Ensuring that criminal appeals are handled fairly and impartially is vital to justice in our state.”
“My pledge to the people of Alabama is simple,” Kellum also said. “I will continue to interpret the law with honesty, uphold the Constitution, and make decisions grounded in justice and fairness.”
A native of Tuscaloosa County, Kellum is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She has served the legal profession for more than 40 years, including as a prosecutor, private attorney and appellate judge. She was selected by the Alabama Supreme Court to serve as a member of the Appellate Rules Committee.
Kellum resides in Montgomery and is active in her local community and church. She will appear on the Republican primary ballot in May 2026.
