Drive Electric Alabama shared last week that a variety of electric vehicles will be on display and EV owners will be on hand to talk one-on-one with anyone interested in learning more about EVs at two upcoming events in north Alabama.
The first free EV showcase is set for Cullman Electric Cooperative as part of its annual meeting on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. until noon. The second free event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., near the Tesla Superchargers at MidCity in Huntsville.
“The fact is that EVs have become so politicized by the headlines that the facts get lost. Our EV showcases are designed to allow anyone who’s interested in learning more about EVs to check out a variety of vehicles that often perform better, are cheaper to maintain, and have longer ranges than today’s gas cars,” said Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition President Michael Staley, who drives an all-electric, full-sized Chevy pick-up truck. “You can find all-electric sedans, SUVs, pick-up trucks and performance cars on the road today. We know people who are getting some amazing deals on purchases and leases of new and used EVs, so we encourage even critics to come out and ask all their questions to get to the bottom line.”
In Cullman, the EV showcase will join other vendors outside the annual meeting of the Cullman Electric Cooperative. Both upcoming EV showcases are sponsored by Drive Electric Alabama and the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition, ACFC.
Many auto manufacturers are working to make sure potential EV owners understand that the federal tax credits for new and used EVs end September 30.
EV owners who are Alabama Power customers can access additional savings, including a discounted rate on all electricity during overnight hours and a $500 rebate for the installation of an in-home charger.
“There are so many myths about EVs, and the best way to separate fact from fiction is to talk to people who are driving an EV every day,” Staley said. “EV owners love to share their personal experience about the cost savings and performance of these vehicles. We hope to see plenty of people come out and check out the showcases this month in north Alabama.”
