The Alabama Farmers Federation announced Monday its endorsement of Senator Donnie Chesteen for Senate District 29 which covers all Geneva County, the southern half of Dale County and most of Houston County.
Chesteen received his BS and MS degrees from Troy University. He began his career as a teacher, football coach and athletic director. He later served and retired as a medical sales representative for Mead Johnson.
Prior to being in the Senate, Chesteen was chairman of the Geneva County School Board and served eight years in the Alabama House of Representatives.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation,” said Chesteen. “I am excited about continuing to represent the farmers, their agricultural issues and all the constituents of District 29.”
Sen. Chesteen and his wife Stephanie have two adult children and two granddaughters. They attend First Baptist Church of Geneva.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 350,000 member families. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Federation boards of directors for local elections.
