State Representative Barbara Drummond, candidate for mayor of Mobile, announced during Monday’s debate that she has received the endorsement of the Mobile Police Department’s Homicide Unit, including respected detectives Julius Nettles, Nick Cerepeau, Kenyada “Kee Kee” Taylor and Jermaine Rogers.
“Everyone in Mobile deserves to live in their community free from the fear of crime,” Drummond said. “I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of the Mobile Police Department’s Homicide Unit. Detectives Nettles, Cerepeau, Taylor, and Rogers are on the front lines of our city’s most difficult and dangerous work. Their support is a reflection of our shared commitment to a safer Mobile for all. Together, we can make that vision a reality.”
Drummond shared that throughout her legislative career she has prioritized public safety, neighborhood revitalization, and resources for law enforcement and community-based violence prevention. Her campaign for mayor includes a detailed plan to strengthen trust between police and residents, expand youth engagement programs, and increase investment in mental health and reentry services.
“This endorsement adds to a growing coalition of community leaders and public servants supporting Drummond’s vision for a more united, secure, and prosperous Mobile,” Drummond’s campaign said.
Past endorsements for Drummond include U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, SPLC Action Fund, Southwest Alabama Labor Council, AFL‑CIO, Communications Workers of America Local 3907, Democratic Mayors Association, Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones and former candidates for mayor of Mobile Lawrence Battiste and Jermaine Burrell.
