State Representative Greg Barnes announced his reelection campaign for State House District 13 on Monday. The 2026 Republican primary will be held on May 19.

“I am honored that on election night nearly 70 percent of voters decided I was the best man to represent them in Montgomery,” Barnes said. “Like President Trump, I am not a politician. I am a businessman and a problem-solver. I decided to run for office because we need more conservative outsiders in public office.”

In September, Barnes won in a special election to replace now-state Senator Matt Woods, receiving nearly 70 percent of the vote.

“The people of District 13 know that I am a business-minded conservative fighter who will defend their interests and unapologetically stand up for the biblical values that make our state and nation great,” Barnes said.

Barnes is a retired business owner, realtor and licensed contractor. He founded and managed Greg Barnes Construction and Development, specializing in large-scale projects, specifically in the healthcare, commercial and residential sectors, until his retirement.

Barnes emphasized the need to create a pro-growth environment, saying, “We need to cut taxes, reduce fees, and eliminate regulations that increase the cost of living. Our tax dollars are not the government’s money; it is our money, and we should be able to keep more of it. I want to put your tax dollars back in your pocket.”
