Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl will visit Auburn University this Wednesday for a campus event titled “Challenge the Chairman,” held in memory of conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk.

The event invites students from all political backgrounds to engage directly with Wahl in an “open and respectful discussion about leadership, public policy, and the future of our nation,” Wahl’s office said. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their own views and challenge Wahl on the issues that matter most to them — from education and the economy to free speech and civic responsibility.

Chairman Wahl said he believes strongly in creating space for real dialogue on college campuses.

“We need more leaders who are willing to engage with young people where they are — on campus, online, and in their communities,” said Wahl. “That includes talking with people who don’t see the world the same way I do. Our nation’s future depends on young Americans being able to exchange ideas freely, challenge each other respectfully, and work together to build a stronger country.”

Wahl said the “Challenge the Chairman” initiative reflects his ongoing commitment to encourage civic engagement and open communication among Alabama’s next generation of leaders. He also said he hopes the event “will show students that the Republican Party welcomes discussion, debate, and diverse perspectives.”

“Events like this are about listening to and encouraging the next generation to get involved,” Wahl added. “I want to hear from students directly — their hopes, their frustrations, and their ideas for the future. The Republican Party wants to share why our values best serve young people by helping them achieve greater freedom, opportunity, and long-term success. This is about empowering future generations to build strong, successful lives and a brighter future for our country. Students today will inherit the decisions being made right now, and it’s important that every one of them — no matter their political viewpoint — feels they have a voice and a real stake in what comes next.”
