JR Bowling announces candidacy for Senate District 4

Bowling launched his grassroots campaign focusing on accountability and restoring trust in state government.

JR Bowling, right, is running for Senate District 4.

JR Bowling announced his candidacy for Alabama State Senate District 4, according to a press release. Bowling said he is launching a grassroots campaign that focuses on accountability, infrastructure and restoring trust in state government.

Formally kicking off his campaign just 12 days before Christmas, Bowling drew a “standing-room only” crowd at a local restaurant with entertainment and speakers.

“People are tired of being ignored,” Bowling said. “This campaign is about putting communities first and making sure the state government works for the people it serves-not the other way around.”

As a vocal opponent of Senate Bill 322, Bowling has argued that the legislation places unnecessary burdens on local governments and undermines local control. He says his campaign is about ensuring decisions affecting North Alabama are made with community input and transparency.

“Together, we can build a government that listens, responds, and delivers real results for North Alabama families,” Bowling said.

According to his campaign, Bowling’s priorities include:

  • Fixing deteriorating roads and strengthening critical infrastructure
  • Defending emergency services and backing first responders
  • Driving job creation, industry growth and protecting small businesses
  • Supporting veterans and amending legislation such as HB445 to help reopen businesses affected by prior closures
  • Imposing transparency and accountability in Montgomery
