Birmingham transit authority appoints new board officers

The transit authority named three new leaders last week to guide its operations, policies and long-term transportation vision.

Patricia Todd, Willie S. Davis III, and Michelle Inman were appointed to the BJCTA board.

The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority announced last week the appointment of new officers to its Board of Directors, a move the agency said reflects its commitment to strong governance, strategic leadership and improved public transit service across Jefferson County.

The new board members represent Birmingham, Homewood and Hoover. BJCTA said they bring experience in public service, policy and community leadership.

Willie S. Davis III, appointed by Birmingham, was named chair. Patricia Todd, also appointed by Birmingham, was named vice chair. Michelle Inman, appointed by Birmingham, was named secretary.

BJCTA said the leadership roles will help guide the board’s oversight of the agency’s operations, policies and long-term vision as it works to provide safe, reliable and innovative transportation services.

“Strong board leadership is essential to advancing our mission and delivering meaningful impact across the communities we serve,” Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Charlotte Shaw said. “I am confident that this group of officers will help guide BJCTA into its next phase of innovation, growth, and enhanced service for our riders.”

The authority said it expects the new officers to play a key role as BJCTA advances initiatives focused on service reliability, innovation and rider experience.
