U.S. Representative Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, issued a statement Tuesday night after winning reelection in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District.

“Tonight, the people of Alabama’s 7th Congressional District have spoken, and I am honored by the trust they have placed in me. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving and delivering for our communities.

“Across the nation, Americans of every background have sent a clear message that they are ready for a new direction. I look forward to returning to Washington under our new Democratic majority with renewed determination to fight for the issues that matter most: lowering the cost of living, protecting affordable healthcare, defending our voting rights, and building an Alabama where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

“This victory belongs to all of us. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I can’t wait to continue fighting for the future we know is possible.”
