Tuscaloosa News: City must set clear standards for development

Excellent work by city leaders to restore order, protect lives and property, and channel relief efforts following the April 27 tornado established a wealth of goodwill from citizens across Tuscaloosa. Call it political capital.

The mayor and City Council will begin spending some of that political capital in the coming weeks as they establish new standards for rebuilding in the tornado zone and beyond. It remains to be seen if they have enough in the bank to get it done.
