Shelby to Visit Tuscaloosa Young Republicans

On Tuesday, May 26, US Senator Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) will join the Tuscaloosa Young Republicans for a fundraiser.

Tuscaloosa Young Republicans Chairman Dalton Dismukes said in a statement, “We have just confirmed a surprise visit to Tuscaloosa and our club, by Senator Richard Shelby! Seating and space is VERY limited. The cost for the event is only $10.00 and you MUST have a ticket to get in. There will be a lunch buffet, however this will be your choice to eat from as it is not covered in your ticket price.”

Senator Richard Shelby is Alabama’s senior US Senator.  Shelby was first elected in 1986.  He served in the Congress and the Alabama legislature prior to his Senate service.  Senator Shelby visits all 67 Alabama Counties every year.  Sen. Shelby lives in the Tuscaloosa area.

The American Conservatives Union (ACU) recently gave Sen. Shelby an award for his conservative voting record.  Sen. Shelby wrote, “It is an honor to receive the ACU Conservative Achievement Award for my voting record in the United States Senate. I hear from my constituents every day about their dissatisfaction with the growing role of government in their lives and their desire for leaders in Washington to stand up for conservative principles. I remain committed to fighting for a smaller, more effective government to give all Americans an opportunity to succeed.”  Senator Shelby has introduced a balanced budget amendment in every Congress in which he has been a member.

Senator Shelby has already announced that he is seeking another term in the US Senate when his present term expires.  Prominent marijuana advocate and former candidate for the Alabama Senate Ron Crumpton (D) has already announced his candidacy for the seat.

The Tuscaloosa County Young Republicans normally meet every third Wednesday at 7:00 pm CST., in the Hotel Capstone Lounge area.  The Chairman of the Tuscaloosa County Young Republicans is Dalton Dismukes.  The Co-Chairman is Matthew Hood.
