Republicans are gearing up early for what at this point appears to be a busy campaign season.

On Wednesday, June 24, the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans will be holding a breakfast with Alabama Republican Party Chair Woman, Terry Lathan.

Alabama Republican Party Sixth District Chairman Chris Brown said on Facebook, “Remember to join the GBYRs this Wednesday for a special Coffee & Conversation with Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan to discuss the plan to turn Jefferson County RED next November. ALL Jefferson County GOP candidates and grassroots activists should try to attend.”

The event will be at O’Henry’s in the Brookwood Shopping Center from 7:30AM-8:30AM.  Coffee and pastries will be provided.

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore (R) will be speaking to the congregation at the Kimberly Church of God on June 28th. During this “God & Country Celebration,” Chief Justice Moore will speak about embattled America, traditional marriage, family values, and will lead a prayer service for our nation.

The Kimberly Church of God was destroyed by a Tornado in April of 2014. After partially rebuilding, they re-launched their services in November of 2014. This will be the first major event since the church has re-opened.

The Pastor Dr. Stan Cooke said in a statement, “Kimberly Church of God is Honored to host Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore for God and Country Day. This will be a time to Honor our Nation, the Founding Fathers and our country’s unique bond with the Holy Bible and the message of the Redeemer Jesus Christ.”  Dr. Stan Cooke was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in the GOP Primary in 2014 and has previously run for Congress.

The Church said in a statement that Chief Justice Moore has been a strong proponent of protecting traditional marriage and family values. Dr. Stan Cooke said that he invited the Chief Justice as the special guest of honor because “He has taken a solid stand for Alabama and our Christian values.”

The event kicks off on Sunday, June 28 at 10:45AM at the Kimberly Church of God, 9108 Jefferson Street / Hwy 31 North, Kimberly, AL.  Call (205) 647-5374 for more information.

Likely GOP Presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson will speak at the Christianity in America Celebration at the Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham on June 28th.  The Church describes the event as an, “Uplifting celebration of God’s hand in America’s history, with music lead by our Chancel Choir and Festival Orchestra and the annual honoring of both our active service members and veterans.  This year our keynote speaker will be Dr. Ben Carson.”  The event will be in the Worship Center at 6:00 PM.

Dr. Carson is the youngest doctor in the history of Johns Hopkins Hospital to serve as Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Co-director of the Craniofacial Center.  Dr. Carson succeeded despite growing up the poor, Black, son of a single parent, in Detroit in the 1950s.  Carson would go on to Yale and eventually the University of Michigan Medical School.  Dr. Carson is a noted speaker and author of 8 books, including his autobiography: ‘Gifted Hands.’  Cuba Gooding Jr. played Dr. Carson in the movie based on the book.  Carson is not a professional politician and appeals to many Republicans who want an outsider to run for President.

Former Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead emphasized in a statement, “Dr. Ben Carson will be speaking at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham on June 28 at 6:00 PM for a CHRISTIANITY IN AMERICA CELEBRATION. This is not a political event but a Christian patriotic event. The public is invited to attend.”

On Thursday, June 25 Carson will be the online guest of Alabama Republicans in the third of a series of town halls that ALGOP is hosting.  Previous guests include Carly Fiorina and Gov. Jeb Bush.

The Alabama Republican Party has announced that their Alabama Republican Party Summer Luncheon will be at the Talladega Motor Speedway on August 22.  The speaker at that event will be announced soon.  The General and VIP Receptions will be at 10:30 AM, the luncheon itself will be at 11:30 AM.  The Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee Meeting will follow beginning at 1:30 PM.
