Merrill Endorses Huckabee

On Thursday, November 5 former Arkansas Governor and 2016 Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee was in Hoover to personally sign the paperwork officially qualifying for the Alabama GOP Presidential Primary on March 1.  He was joined at Alabama Republican headquarters in Hoover by Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill (R) who endorsed Gov. Huckabee as his choice to be the next President of the United States.

huckabeeGov. Huckabee said, “Alabama and other S.E.C. primary states are critical to our campaign, and I’m proud to have John Merrill’s endorsement as we mobilize grassroots conservatives across the country.  Alabamians and Americans from coast-to-coast are sick and tired of Washington’s mess, and it’s time for real leadership, not just empty rhetoric, so we can rebuild our country before it’s too late.”

Secretary of State John Merrill said, “For almost a decade I have had the privilege to know Gov. Mike Huckabee as a great man of incredible integrity and a man who loves the Lord and allows Him to direct his path.  Our country desperately needs a proven, dedicated, conservative leader who knows who he is and is not defined by his position but by his character. We need a leader who chooses to make decisions according to beliefs and not public opinion polls, and I know Gov. Mike Huckabee has the skills, ability, desire, and fortitude to get our country back on the right track!  For these reasons and many others, I am honored to extend my personal endorsement for him to become the next President of the United States!”

Governor Huckabee said in a statement, “Brick-by-brick, we’re mobilizing a powerful grassroots team of Americans that are eager to burn down the corrupt Washington political machine, and these commonsense conservatives will carry us through the Alabama Republican primary and beyond.  Alabamians are sick and tired of Washington’s mess, and it’s time we rebuild our country.”

Sec. Merrill said, “In 2008, Governor Huckabee won the Alabama Primary and has shown that he is committed to winning again. Candidates that continue to visit our state are proof that the SEC Primary is real and is working.”

Secretary Merrill continued, “With the assistance and full support of the Alabama Legislature, one of the most significant things we have done in the Secretary of State’s Office is change the primary date to March 1. Since the March primary legislation passed, the top two Democratic candidates and seven of the top Republican candidates have made campaign stops in Alabama, which is unheard of for our state. Our state has a strong voice and it is being heard through the SEC Primary! As Secretary of State, I will continue to position Alabama and the South as a place where Presidential candidates are willing to make an effort to visit and meet our remarkable people.”
